Blind Contour
When we started doing the blind contour drawings, in my head I thought I was doing good, in my head I was thinking I was drawing a nice looking hand but once I looked at it, it looked like a mess. Doing blind drawings is hard because you can't see what your drawing and you can't see where you are going. Also, trying not to pick up the pen was very hard. Once you picked up the pen it was hard to start back because you can't see where you are drawing.
Modified Contour Drawings
Modified Contour Drawings was easier because you could actually see where you were drawing and you had a Visual image of your hand as you were drawing it. You could as more detail when you could see it and not when you had you eyes closed. I like doing this kind of drawing then drawing it without looking.
Backpack Drawing
The Backpack drawing was a little easy at first because first you had to draw the outline but then when it came to the middle part which is drawing the detail you had to put the wrinkles and the value, that was a difficult part for me to do because I've never done wrinkles before and I didn't know how to do it .
Room Drawing
SELF EVALUATION
1. Did you use a fluid line? Explain how is this evident?
- It was hard to use fluid lines because you had to go back and fourth, it was difficult for me not to pick up the pen so some lines aren't really fluid, but other than that I like how it looks
2. Explain how your knowledge and creating practice studies with contour line contributed to the success of your piece.
Practicing the drawing first help because it help me figure out ways i could do the drawing and how i could use smooth lines
3. Describe the difference in your contour line drawing to an outline drawing.
- The difference between a contour drawing and an outline drawing is that in a contour drawing there is more Lines and it is hard to see where things are. An outline drawing is just basically the outline of something and it's easier to see where things are.
4. Explain how your interpretation of line is essential in capturing the look of the room.
-
6. What did you learn from completing this drawing? If you could recreate your piece what would you do differently to enhance the final outcome?
-Something I learned from this project is that we shouldn't pick up the pen. It was difficult for me to do that . If I could do this again I would choose a different place of the room to draw and put more detail in to it.

Ribbon Drawing
As I was doing this ribbon drawing I thought It was going to be easy but then It started to get a little difficult because I had to do a shadow with a white prisma.
Still Life and Value Chart
Drawing still life objects was a little bit easy for me because I had done it In art 1 so I had a little experience with it. Doing the shading was easy because i had the different pencils and so you could chose to use a dark pencil or light and those are easy to blend with
The value chart was easy because I used different pencils I had experience with this chart because we did this in art 1
Drawing these drawings was easier with the charcoal pencils because those blended easier and were easier to control except that it's really messy, I really like drawing with the charcoal pencils
drawing with the white chalk wasn't my favorite because it didn't blend that well and i didn't really feel comfortable with it. But it didn't make much of a mess like the charcoal pencils. In the second picture you can see that I could really blend it together or fade it that much.
Fabric drawing
this drawing was done with the charcoal pencil. It was easy doing different values on it but it was a mess. I like how it blends nicely
this fabric drawing was done with white chalk. It was a little difficult to do because it didn’t really blend much and it was uncomfortable
This fabric drawing was done with prisma pencil , it was a little hard to make different value changes with it but it was easier to use then the other pencils.
Fabric Final Drawing
SELF EVALUATION
1. Did you use a wide range of values? (A range from white to black with at least 9 values). Explain how is this evident?
- I think I did use some different values, it was a little hard for me to do different values because the charcoal was a little messy and it made it really messy on some parts of the drawing where I didn’t want it to have much value
2. Explain how your knowledge and creating practice studies with value contributed to your piece.
It Helped a lot practicing with different drawing pencils , for example the charcoal was easy to blend with and you could add great values and the white chalk didn’t really blend easily and i wasn’t comfortable with it. Practiced a lot with the charcoal pencil on my practice drawing
3. Describe the blending and transitions in your fabric (discuss your use of pressure with pencil/colored pencil/charcoal pencil and other techniques to achieve this).
Some parts where it needed dark values I put a lot of pressure and went back on it many times . Then the parts where it didn’t need much value I slightly went over it I didn’t use a lot of pressure on it
4. Explain how your interpretation of texture is essential in capturing the look of the object.
6. If you could recreate your pieces what would you do differently to enhance the final outcome?
If I could do this again I was probably try to not put a lot of pressure on the middle part because you can see just the really dark thick line and I didn’t really like that part, but other than that I really liked the project

Still Life Final
Describe the craftsmanship of your drawing. (Is it clear, clean edges, blended well, smudges, defined space, etc.)
I think this drawing cane out really nice, I used a lot of different values on this. It’s blended well. You can tell where things are.
2. Are your values and shadows realistic? How many values did you include? How and why are values important?
The values are very important because it shows where things are. It makes it look realistic. Shadows make it look three dementional. I really like the way I did the shadow on the table because it looks realistic.
3. Is there a clear source of lighting?
4. How important were the compositional sketches? Explain.
The compositional sketches were Important because it helps you see where things are going to go and how you can use values
5. How is your final drawing successful?
The final drawing was successful because it has nice values to it and you can see where things are and what it is
6. Are the proportions, structure and perspective of the subject correct?
I think the proportions were a little off but not much that you can notice it a lot. But the perspective of the objects were correct. I drew them the same as in real life.
7. Does the placement & grouping of objects create a pleasing arrangement (composition)?
The placement of the objects help a lot because the light hits it nicely and it makes it have more value and it helps the drawing
8. Is there a center of interest and is it well located?
I think there was a center of interest , I think it was the truck , I think it should’ve been located more where you could see more of it .
9. How well did you manage your time and resources throughout the process of creating this drawing? Do you see where you could improve in this area?
I think we had enough time to finish this, for
10. What challenges did you encounter during this project and how did you overcome them?
A challenge I encountered while doing this was making darker values so it doesn’t blend with each other for examples trying to make something look like if it was in front of something. What I did was , I used a darker pencil and put more pressure on it
11. What have you learned drawing a still life?
Something I learned from doing this project was that everything is better looking at it in person then to do it from a picture because when you do it from a picture you can’t really see the values in it
Pumpkin and Grape Drawing
For my pumpkin drawing i blended many colors, i really like how the pencils blend very well together. it really helps the drawing stand out more and it helps with added different values

SELF EVALUATION
1. Describe how you created an interesting point of view? Was it successful? Why or why not?
In my drawing, i tried making it look like you were looking from the eraser on the pencil. i think it looks nice, i think i should've made the body of the pencil more upwards so it doesn't look like its leaning down.
2. Why is it important to understand perspective and how to draw it?
it was important because it helps make things look 3D and it looks much better.
3. How were the colored pencil exercises important in the success of your piece?
They were important because they helped me get use to the way the colored pencils work and the ways you could blend colors together.
4. Describe the craftsmanship of your colored pencil. What techniques were used? (How well the project is technically crafted).
I blended many colors together, i really liked the way the purple and the black blended together. it looks really nice. Also, on the top part of the pencil sharpener, i blend some red into it, then i went over it with some white, and it blended very nicely.
5. Were you able to achieve depth by showing a foreground, middle ground and back- ground? Explain.
6. Explain your experience with colored pencil and the project in general. What were the obstacles and advantages?
i really liked how the pencil blend. it makes the drawing look really good. it was a little difficult for me to draw the outline but in the end i got it and i was able to add some color to it to cover up some mistakes.
7. Looking back on the progression of this project what skills, techniques or other information would you like to have been taught? Do you feel you were prepared for this project?
I think i was well prepared for this project, i think i might've needed some help with the outline of the pencil, but over then that the blending of the pencil really helps
Opacity Project
1. Describe the craftsmanship of your drawing. (Is it neat and well executed?)
- I feel like it’s well done , I put time into it . I added a lot of detail on it , I really like the outcome of it. The blending in the background
2. Describe how your background choices help unify the three artworks and tie them together as one piece of art.
3. Describe your choice of colors/color harmonies and how you used them throughout the artwork.
-I used a blend of prisma and chalk because it blends well together and it makes it look smoother
4. How did you create contrast in your drawing?
-I think i the different values on the objects helped a lot . And the blending also
5. How did you use textures, highlights and shadows to enhance your artwork?
-I think I did a good job on the highlights and shadows , you can tell what’s on top and what’s on the bottom.
6. Why did you choose a particular background color to mount your artwork?
-I chose this color because I wanted the objects in front to really stand out , and I think it did so that was a good choice I think.
7. Discuss the importance of understanding the media (prisma or pastels) and acquiring the skills necessary to create a successful project.
-I used both, the prisma and the pastels, they’re easy to blend so that helped me a lot on the values, I think it’s just easier as in which one you can use easier.
8. Describe any difficulties you had creating your drawing and what you could do to improve your drawing?
- I had difficulty on doing the correct details on the video games, and also the clear jar. Something I could do is practice more on drawing glass.
Candy Drawing
for my candy drawing, i used the chalk because it blends well together. at the beginning i sketched out the drawing and then i went over the highlights with the white prisma and then i filled out the rest with the chalk. i really like this drawing because from far away it looks realistic.
Drawing Eyes
Drawing eyes was pretty easy, the only thing is you got to have everything at the right size and good value to make it look realistic, I’ve never really drawn eyes , this was the first time, I think it was a successful drawing.
Drawing Noses
I think drawing noses was complicated for me because I couldn’t get the right size of the nostrils and the came out looking weird , but with the value it sort of helps make it look better.
Skull Drawing
my drawing was every off but i think the value was nice sort of. i think it helped prepare me for the final drawing because this was practice one. but in the end the final drawing was pretty good.
1. Explain the process you went through to develop your drawing.
first i drew the outline and then i sketched out where the different face parts were going to go. even though it was difficult.
2. Explain how you found the different values in the portrait?
i found the different values based on the picture i took of me. the values are mostly in the nose.
3. Did you achieve a full range of the different values within your portrait? How?
i think i didnt really have a lot of different values, there were mostly in the nose area and under the eyes.
4. Describe your craftsmanship. Is the artwork executed and crafted neatly?
i really liked the outcome of this portrait because it was my first one i actually drew of me and it doesnt really look like me but its a good try.
5. How were you able to capture your look?
i was able to capture my look by the picture i took i drew the right sizes of the eyes and the mouth was pretty close i liked the outcome of this
6. Explain how you made sure you had correct facial feature placement.
to make sure i had the right sizes and placement i used a drawing of an eye and measured everything with that since mostly everything is an eye length apart.
7. Explain the importance of learning how to draw all the features individually.
its important to learn how to draw each piece individually because it gets you more practice of how you are going to draw it and you learn from your mistakes
8. What part of this unit was the most beneficial and why?
i think drawing the eyes was very helpful because when i drew them in the final i didnt have a problem drawing them
9. List any obstacles you had to overcome and how you dealt with them.
i think it was difficult for me to draw the nose because of the different values and size but i just went with it and i added the values to see if it looked better and it did.

SELF EVALUATION
1. Describe the subject matter and meaning of your artwork.
-i think that at the beginning of the piece it was looking good , but since we didn’t have enough time to work on it I sort of rushed through it. but i think that it was good the way it turned out but like i said it needed a little more value and detail on it.
2. How did you use textures to enhance your picture?
-I feel like I didn’t add to much texture on the but with the texture on somethings it made the picture look good
3. How did you balance your artwork and create a well-organized composition?
i tried to add more details on the objects and value i feel like i did but not a lot on the ground.
4. How did you imply movement in your drawing?
-I implied movement by making the spaceship look like it was abducting the cow . also i kind of made the clouds like if they were moving. my plan was mostly just to focus on the space ship with the cow.
5. How could you improve your artwork?
-I think I could add more texture and more detail on some things . And also more value on on the cow. and also by adding more objects on the ground because right now the ground looks a little to simple
6. How did you demonstrate a wide range of shading values?
I left all the dark parts and scratched out the highlights i tired adding alot of value on the mountain tops and on the space ship

Final Reflective Post
Over the semester i feel like i learned a lot. i learned how to add value on objects i improved my skills on somethings i think if we had more time on projects, i would actually add more detail and more to my projects. i think every time we practiced at the beginning of every project, that really helps because it gave us a hint of how we are going to do in the project. overall i think my favorite project was the fabric drawing with the chalk because it was easy to do shading the thing i didn't like was the mess it did. it was hard to clean up. my least favorite project was drawing the glass because i just couldnt make it look like glass at all. this project was a struggle for me. i think this class really helped me improved my art skill ive taken art class twice and its really helped me improve my skills in many ways and the class was really fun and everyone i met in the class . i think something im really going to miss is ms rossi saying "add more value".
